Even Marijuana Causes Schizophrenia!

New Australian research has confirmed the results of previous investigations that the use of marijuana increases the chance to show some psychological problems, including schizophrenia, in the future.

The Australian researchers from the University of Sydney Hospital and Prince of Wales, studied over 20,000 patients and concluded that marijuana users had a 41% higher chance of developing psychosis and symptoms such as hallucinations, compared with those without had ever used. Indeed, the psychoses such exhibit, according to the study, two and a half years earlier than those who have not used marijuana and symptomatic psychoses. "The risk is very high especially for young children whose brains still developing," said head group of researchers, Dr. Matthew Lartz. It also stressed that the risk increases the longer the use, adding that marijuana use is associated with the appearance of symptoms associated with schizophrenia: users can hear voices or see things lacking.

As stated by M. Lartz, the findings of the survey are alarming because, even temporarily, 33% of the Australian population uses marijuana and 18% of high school students.
